Ruthie Braffman Shulman
Director of Education
From the Suburbs of Philadelphia born and raised, Ruthie first started her love affair with NYC when she received her B.A. from Yeshiva University’s Stern College in midtown. While there, she participated in the Guinness book of world record’s largest dodge ball game, jogged with the circus elephants at 1am from the midtown tunnel to MSG, and received an M.A. in Talmud from Stern College’s Advanced Talmud Program (GPATS) while serving as a Congregational Intern at the Hebrew Institute of White Plains. She has been an OU-JLIC (Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus) educator at the University of Pennsylvania, and a founder of the JLIC program at Drexel University. While living and studying in Israel, she taught at Midreshet AMIT and Nishmat’s gap-year programs. Ruthie, her husband, Danny Shulman and their spirited son Raanan, are excited to be living on the UWS and a part of the dynamic MJE community.
